SUMMARY:ICNJ 2026 Annual Meeting and Conference
DESCRIPTION:What's Hot in the CourtsThe NJ Supreme Court recently ruled on two distinct cases that reinforce key statutory boundaries under New Jersey insurance law\, affirming interpretations that protect policy limits and maintain the Superior Court's jurisdiction over complex fraud claims. In Chiaccheri v. Zurich\, the Court addressed two questions posed to it by the Third Circuit Court of Appeals regarding maximum UIM coverage as the limit selected by the named insured\, not the general liability limit. In Allstate v. CCMC\, the Court considered whether civil claims alleging patterns of insurance fraud under the Insurance Fraud Prevention Act (IFPA) and New Jersey RICO must be arbitrated under No-Fault / Automobile Insurance Cost Reduction Act (AICRA) or tried in Superior Court. Our panel of experts will discuss the merits of these cases and the implications on NJ's personal and commercial auto insurance business and policyholders.\nThe AI Future is Already Here for Claims and FraudThe deployment of artificial intelligence in insurance claims processing and Special Investigative Units (SIUs) represents a high-stakes arms race. AI tools are dramatically accelerating legitimate claims payouts while simultaneously lowering the technical bar for committing fraud and providing insurers with powerful tools to detect deception. How are claims already changing in automobile liability and homeowners? Are these tools making committing or detecting insurance fraud easier? How are carriers reacting and using AI to fight back? Our panel of experts\, including from Verisk\, will debate the trends emerging from this evolving technology.Online registration is closed but you can register at the door of the event.
